Doy Doy Restaurant - Istanbul

Another incredibly popular Turkish restaurant located at the Southeastern side of Sultanahmet (or just ask anyone). Their rooftop dining room offers unobstructed views of the surrounding sights and shouldn't be missed, especially on a mild evening. One of the floors of Doy Doy is reserved for an interesting gathering of smoking Turkish men, who meet to discuss the various issues of the day. You may also have a hookah pipe if you like, but it is apart from the main dining area. There is also indoor seating should the weather not be amenable to eating outside. This is a restaurant with waiters, unlike Vitamin, so you can spend a leisurely amount of time here after a hard day's sightseeing. They have a delicious sampler platter full of Turkish foods that you might not normally try, highly suggested. They also have plenty of kebab type meals, lentil soups, moussaka, and the delicious Turkish Pide (small pizzas) available as well, and a homemade dessert menu featuring baklava & Turkish delight. Doy Doy also do have a great vegetarian menu available as well. They don't serve alcohol, but have an excellent variety of Turkish teas. Their prices are incredibly low ($4-10 US pp) for Istanbul, and for their excellent food, which is why they are always packed. Most people don't seem to eat anywhere else when visiting Istanbul (you'll soon see why).
If you can't find it, just ask around, and you will. Sifa Hamami Sokak No.
