Foodlands - Restaurant Review - Abu Dhabi
The interestingly named Foodlands is an Abu Dhabi staple serving up some of the city's finest Indian, Arabic, East Asian, Afghan and other regional dishes. They also cook up French, Italian, Spanish and English food as well! Despite the frantic seeming mix everything is of good quality and can be had for one of the city's more affordable tabs.
Every day Foodlands has a great lunch buffet for a reasonable price (30 dirhams) where you can sample all of its cuisine. Unlike other buffets where the food can be old and not even hot the food here was both hot and fresh.
The buffet includes all of your Arabic staples: hummus, baba ghanouj, falafel, pita bread, kebabs, kofta, bbq chicken, etc. and all are done to perfection.
Indian food includes several types of meat curries, chicken tandoori, and many vegetarian options. One of my favorite dishes is chicken vindaloo and when I saw that they didn't have it on the buffet I was hesitant to choose the buffet but couldn't back down from the variety of choices. I asked the waiter if anything was spicy on the buffet and he pointed out two Indian dal dishes and said they were kind of spicy but not too much. I tried them and they were some of the spiciest things I've ever eaten! Luckily because I wanted a spicy dish.
They also have a variety of salads and desserts and the wait staff is more than happy to fill up your water.
I believe they have separate seating for families as well. They are open most days, check before going. Foodlands is on Airport Road right in the thick of the city. They also have one branch in Musaffah and Dubai.
