"THE ART OF HENNA" > Page 1, 2
It should be mentioned that henna decoration in the Middle East is still traditionally reserved for women and for special occasions (weddings, banquets, etc.). So, don't be surprised if you get a few strange glances or inquisitive comments on it when visiting the region with your tattoo. As an insult to the culture, it is not that big of a deal, and people will react with more of a pleasant curiosity than anything else.
The best places to buy powdered henna are in your local ethnic (Arab or Indian) grocery store. If you don't have one near you, check at a nearby tattoo shop for additional information. If all else fails, there are many different kits one can buy, both in stores and online. The kits, however, have been known to be notoriously bad quality, so ask the person you are buying it from for more advice. Lastly, enjoy your new decoration, and know that you are carrying on a 5000 year old tradition!
