Nicosia Restaurants
There is an amazing lack of information on restaurants in Nicosia online and most of the sites which have information seem to be touting the Northern Cyprus agenda. We've provided some of Nicosia's best dining here to try and alleviate your concerns and to help you not waste your money on bad food One thing that Nicosia does best is local flavored cuisines from around the world. There are top notch Indian, Chinese and Italian restaurants all over the city. For a taste of Cypriot cuisine, the old fashioned Greek way, head over to the restaurants and tourist area of Plateia Eleftherias (everyone knows where it is). The area is set in Nicosia's historic old city (though steer clear of the "caberet" district) and features a pedestrian walkway with numerous shops, restauarants and cafes/bars. You must spend one of your Nicosia days here and finish it with one of the delicious restaurants in the area. Most are fantastic, and for some reason the specialty in Cyprus seems to be Pepper Steak - each restaurant does it differently but it should not be missed. When dining in this area you will inevitably be joined by one of the restaurant's staff. Do not take this as a scam or anything more than a very friendly and cordial culture - which it is. Do not be surprised if you find yourself drinking Ouzo late into the night and being serenaded by an old man with a bazouki. Many restaurants are closed on Mondays and Sundays. Our Web site features reviews of three other Nicosian restaurants which should not be missed:
You must ask around where the nearest Toronto pizza is and have one delivered to your hotel room or villa immediately.
Abu Faysal is the cream of the crop in Lebanese and Middle Eastern food in Nicosia and is another hometown favorite.
