The Dead Sea - Jordan

Jordan's shoreline of this spectacular natural phenomenon should not be missed by any chance. Take a float, try to sink, and cover your body with the Sea's amazing mud for a sink-tacular experience.

The Dead Sea is the lowest place on the earth, travelling downward some 1200 ft. below sea level (hint: no fear of altitude sickness here!). The Sea is so named due to the incredible salt content of its water, which makes all sorts of "life" impossible in it. What it does make for, however, is some mineral rich mud and soil, which is sold around the world as skin masks and other beautifying creams.

A dip in the Dead Sea is an experience not to be missed. The high salt content also makes your body almost sit on the top of the water. Even while demanding your legs to stand up straight on the muddy floor, your body cannot compete and they go flying upward to the surface.

Bring a good novel and float around for a few hours while taking in the sunshine and wonderful hill-ringed sights of the sea.

The nearby Salt Land Village offers great spas and natural healing areas for those visitors wishing to stay a little longer. It is recommended to stay at least a night here, to really enjoy all that the area has to offer.
