The Movenpick Resort Petra

This is the closest hotel to the entrance of the park, and its newer five star sister hotel on the nearby mountainside.

You will probably be spending a lot of time at the Movenpick even if you aren't staying here because they have the best restaurants and bar in town. They also have great, clean and safe facilities, and top of the line five star rooms.

Restaurants and bars inside include Al-Iwan Mediterranean cuisine (pricey and well-dressed), the Al-Ghadeer Roof Garden - which is only open during summer but is a great place to sit on the roof and have some snacks and a cocktail while watching the sunset, and the Al-Magaad Bar in its splendid Arabian Nights setting.

They also have a great ice cream at their store, serving the well known Movenpick desserts.

For those wanting a better view, you might consider staying at the somewhat farther away and yet hillside isolated paradise of Moevenpick Nabatean Castle Hotel.

For those sleeping in their wonderful beds, expect to pay around US$160-$250 a night.
