Wadi Rum
For those who want to experience the true feeling of the desert, an overnight trip to Wadi Rum is imperative. You won't ever see so many stars or hear so much nothingness almost anywhere else on the planet.
In Wadi Rum the horizon stretches forever, the mountains seem to be nearby, but are miles and miles away. Sound evaporates and the peacefulness of nothingness descends on you (depending on who you are camping with, that is ). Wadi Rum is the outdoor lover's dream. Camping, hiking (for beginners to the most experienced), 4x4 vehicle exploration, mountain climbing, and motorcycle/quad riding are just some of the things you can occupy your time with. Of course there are the ubiquitous camels to ride through the Wadi, for those of you getting in touch with the incredible natural beauty of the area. All of these activities can be arranged fairly easily through any hotel reception or tour agency in Amman, or even online. If you are travelling here it is likely you are camping, and should have all of that taken care of way in advance, you don't want to show up and expect to find your way around easily - if you do you will be taken advantage of. <--- back to Jordanian City Index for inquiries and comments (non-commercial only please): go.mideast @ yahoo.comCopyright ©2003-2010 gomideast.com unless otherwise credited |
