Damascus Hostel, Syria Location
front door - (like many great spaces in the Old City the Hostel has an unassuming exterior) This is a relatively new venture and is one of the nicest and least expensive places to stay in the old city. One of the best things about “DH” is that it’s located right near Bab Sharqi (the Eastern Gate) of the Old City and is in an old neighborhood with no roads (only foot paths) and is at the end of a sort of cul-de-sac. This means you’ll be staying in a family/residential neighborhood/alley and not having to deal with problems that staying in a more open place would have. Being located in the Old City means you’ll rarely have to take a taxi or bus or car anywhere if you’re exploring Damascus because most of the great stuff is in the Old City. From the hostel you can walk anywhere in the Old City within 10-15 minutes. It’s in the Christian district which means there are lots of late night restaurants and a few bars and liquor stores nearby. There are also tons of shops (groceries), Internet cafes, fast food eateries, dry cleaning, pharmacies, nice restaurants and access to a main road which makes it an ideal place to base yourself while in Syria. ---> next page: Choices of Accommodation in the Hostel <---return to Damascus Hostel Main Page
